Carl P. Bowman

Carl P. Bowman practices almost exclusively with health care providers on a broad range of matters. Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Bowman spent 25 years in health care administration, most recently as Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer for a large regional medical center. He has been involved in joint ventures, physician recruitment, managed care related activities, clinic purchases and establishment, reimbursement issues and administrative appeals including Medicare and Medicaid appeals and state reimbursement programs.

Kirk H. Doan

Kirk H. Doan has extensive experience dealing with matters concerning health law, real estate and business law. His experience includes commercial finance, loan closings, workouts, sales, title examination, exchanges, condemnation, zoning and foreclosures. He has extensive experience handling physician and medical practice business issues for many Midwestern physicians, dentists, pharmacists and medical entities including employment, practice acquisition, physician associations, managed care and hospital contracting, ASC construction, and regulatory compliance.

Megan L. Gerriets

Megan L. Gerriets joined the firm of Stinson Morrison Hecker, LLP in 2006 as an associate in the General Business Division. While attending Drake University law school, she taught legal research and served on the editorial board of the Drake Law Review. She also competed on Drake Law School’s National Mock Trial Team and the ABA National Moot Court Team. In addition, she coached mock trial on the middle school and high school levels, and taught mock trial for middle school students participating in the Des Moines Gifted and Talented Program.

Wayne B. Henry

Wayne B. Henry is chairman of the Stinson Morrison Hecker, LLP Nonprofit Tax-Exempt Organizations Practice Group. He serves as outside legal counsel for a wide range of non-profit organizations, including hospitals and related entities, colleges and universities, low-income housing, college housing and organizations that are assisting governmental entities with large diverse government projects. His experience encompasses taxexempt organizations with respect to various organizational and operational issues dealing with business and tax planning, including joint ventures and challenges to exempt status, together with federal audits and litigation.

Patricia A. Zeig

Patricia A. Zieg chairs the Stinson Morrison Hecker, LLP Health Care Group and serves as outside general counsel to several health care providers including health systems, physicians, and tribally owned health centers and nursing homes. Her work includes advising providers on the structuring of ventures including counsel on federal and state anti-fraud and self-referral laws. She also regularly advises health care clients on risk management, medical staff, confidentiality and privacy including HIPAA, licensure and regulatory matters and non-profit entity issues. Her experience includes membership on the ethics committee of an academic medical center which has provided valuable insight into medical ethical issues.
